Haddon Township offers many services to its senior residents.

Transportation

Haddon Towncar

The Haddon Towncar provides free transportation to shopping and recreational areas operated by the Haddon Township Board of Commissioners and funded by the Camden County Community Development Fund. To qualify for this free service, you must be a resident of Haddon Township and at least 60 years old or certified handicap. Sen-Han Transit
Sen-Han Transit is available to transport Haddon Township residents for medical appointments. Residents must be at least 60 years old or certified handicap. This service is operated by the Senior Citizens United Community Services of Camden County and funded by the Camden County Board of Freeholders and the Camden County Office on Aging. To schedule Sen-Han Transit Transportation, please call (856) 456-3344 at least two weeks in advance.

Property Tax Relief Programs for Seniors

Seniors Get Fresh!
As Farmers’ Markets open in the spring, many senior citizens plan to save money and eat fresh. The Seniors Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program provides checks to eligible low income senior participants to buy locally grown fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. To be eligible for this program, a senior citizen must be at least 60 years old and have a household income of $20,036 or lower for an individual or $26,955 or lower for a couple.

Special Events for Seniors:

Senior Picnic

All Haddon Township seniors are personally invited to attend the Annual Senior Citizens Picnic on Wednesday, August 18th from noon until 3:00 pm at the Crystal Lake Pool.  All residents 60 years of age or older or certified handicapped are welcome to attend this festive picnic that will include transportation, a full barbecue, entertainment, swimming and more. The picnic is sponsored and coordinated by the Haddon Township Commissioners along with the Camden County Community Development Block Grant monies. Senior Citizens Association of Haddon Township Celebrates its 45th Anniversary!

The Senior Citizens Association of Haddon Township celebrated its 45th anniversary on June 8th with a luncheon at Giumarello’s.  The organization if for senior citizens 60 years of age and older and meets the second Tuesday of each month from September through June.  In the months of December and June, the group hosts a luncheon for members at a local area restaurant.  Their regular monthly meetings are held at the Grace Baptist Church on Reeves Ave. from 1:00-3:00 PM and refreshments are served.  The next meeting is scheduled for September 14th.  For more information contact:  Dee Bailey at (856) 858-5859.

A Memorable Senior Spring Gala

The West Collingswood Heights Firehouse hall overflowed with over 130 Haddon Township senior citizens on Sunday, April 25th as they enjoyed their Second Annual Spring Gala.  The fun included the music of George Tanger, dancing, a full buffet, gala photographs, and door prizes.   To catch the action, view the Senior Spring Gala I-Movie  on Channels 19 and 46 at noon, 4:00 pm,  and 7:00 pm daily through the month of May.

Senior Swim at Crystal Lake Pool
Every season, Crystal Lake Pool sets aside the 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM hour Monday through Friday for seniors to enjoy the pool facility. Admission during this hour is free.
